Every other disc race frame uses adjustable dropouts — you slide the wheel forward or backward to tension the chain. The HSX uses a fixed position with an integrated chain tensioner instead. It means your chainstay length is identical every single time you remove and reinstall the wheel, your geometry never shifts, and your wheel goes back in straight in seconds. UD carbon formed tubes deliver 30% more torsional stiffness than the previous HSX generation — you feel that stiffness most out of the gate and through corners, where energy loss from flex costs you fractions of a second that add up over a moto. The BB shell steps up from BB86 to BB386 EVO for Pro 21.5" and above, widening the crank interface as rider weight and power output increases. What size HSX Carbon should I order?
Order the size that matches your USA BMX racing class. Expert (19.6" TT) fits riders roughly 4'6"–5'0". Expert XL (20.6" TT) fits 4'10"–5'4". Pro (21" TT) suits 5'2"–5'8". Pro XL (21.5" TT) and above are for taller adult riders. When in doubt, match your class first — it's more important than matching height. Call us before ordering if you're between sizes.
What fork pairs with the HSX Carbon?
The SD Carbon V2 Pro Tapered fork is the factory-matched fork — it's what ships on the Patron complete bike and what Meybo's pro team runs. It comes in 24" Cruiser and 20" versions in matching colourways. The Avian Versus Tapered Carbon and Pride Apex Tapered are also compatible. All require a tapered 1-1/8" to 1.5" headset (Expert sizes use a straight 1-1/8" headset instead — see spec table).
What headset do I need?
Expert and Expert XL: Avian or Sinz 1-1/8" standard integrated headset.
Pro 21" through Pro XXXXL and Cruiser: Avian or Sinz tapered 1-1/8" to 1.5" integrated headset.
What bottom bracket does it use?
BB86 press-fit for Expert, Expert XL, and Pro 21". BB386 EVO for Pro 21.5" and above. This affects which cranks are compatible — confirm your crank's BB standard before ordering.
Does the frame come with a rear axle?
Yes. The HSX Carbon includes a 7005 alloy CNC-machined 15mm rear axle. It does not include a fork, headset, or seatpost.
Can I use V-brakes?
No. The HSX Carbon is flat mount disc brake only. It is not compatible with V-brakes or caliper brakes.
What disc rotor size does it take?
The HSX Carbon uses a 140mm flat mount disc rotor. Using a 120mm rotor will not centre the caliper correctly.
Does carbon fibre crack invisibly?
Yes, and this is serious. Carbon can sustain internal structural damage from an impact that looks fine on the surface. If you crash or the frame takes any significant impact, stop riding and have it professionally inspected before continuing. Never continue riding a carbon frame after a crash without inspection — failure can occur without warning.
Who should install it?
A professional bicycle mechanic. Carbon frames require specific torque values at every fastener. Overtightening carbon — especially at the headset, seatpost, and fork — can cause invisible damage that leads to catastrophic failure.
Is it legal for USA BMX racing?
Yes. The HSX Carbon meets and exceeds CPSC and EN 14781 standards and is legal for all USA BMX and BMX Canada sanctioned events.
