BMX Brake Pads

Brake pad selection in BMX racing depends on your rim material. Carbon rims require carbon-specific compound pads — the rubber compound in standard alloy pads generates too much heat against carbon fiber, causes premature rim surface wear, and reduces braking performance. Running the wrong pads on a carbon rim will eventually require a rim replacement.

Avian Carbon BMX Brake Pads (our owned brand) — alloy cage with carbon-specific compound, designed for the Avian Venatic rim and compatible with other carbon rim V-brake surfaces. Available in Red, Blue, and Black. Avian Carbon Specific Brake Pad Inserts — replacement compound pads for Avian alloy pad cages, compatible with Shimano and Box Component cartridge pad bodies. Use these when the compound wears but the cage is still serviceable.

For alloy rims, any standard BMX V-brake pad is compatible. For carbon rims, use only carbon-specific compound.
