BMX Race Headsets

The headset is the bearing system that lets your fork rotate inside the frame's head tube. It's not a glamorous component but it's a critical one — a poorly fitted or wrong-spec headset creates play in the steering, accelerates head tube wear, and in carbon fork setups can cause damage that voids your fork warranty.

Three standards are in use across BMX racing. Step-Down Integrated (1-1/8" frame, 1" steerer): used on Mini and Junior class frames that pair with 1" steerer forks. Standard Integrated (1-1/8" frame and steerer): the most common standard for Expert and Expert XL class frames. Tapered Integrated (1-1/8"–1.5"): for Pro and Cruiser frames with a tapered head tube, required for tapered carbon forks including the SD Pro, Avian Versus Tapered, and Pride Apex Tapered.

Confirm your frame's head tube standard before ordering — fitting the wrong headset standard is not recoverable without replacement parts.
