Steering System

The steering system covers every component between the fork crown and your hands: fork, headset, stem, handlebars, and grips. These five components work as a system — their combined weight, geometry, and stiffness determine how the front of the bike feels, how quickly it responds in turns, and how much energy transfers from your arms to the wheel in gate starts.

Getting the steerer standard right is the foundational step. 1" straight for Mini/Junior frames, 1-1/8" straight for Expert through Pro frames without a tapered head tube, tapered 1-1/8"–1.5" for modern Pro and Cruiser frames. Every other steering component choice depends on getting this right first.
